Direct Metal Deposition (DMD)

Friday December 12, 2003
DMD is a break-through process that fabricates highly accurate molds and dies directly from CAD data, in extremely short leadtimes, and at lower cost than traditional fabrication technologies. The laser-based fabrication technology produces fully dense metal products using powdered metals. Alloy compositions include:
  • Tool Steel Alloys (Fe, C, Cr, V): P20, P21, H13, S7, D2
  • Stainless Steel: 420SS, 319SS, 17-4SS
  • Cobalt-based Alloys (Co, Cr, Mo, Ni)
  • Super Alloys (Co, Mo, Cr, Si)
  • Copper-based Alloys (CuNi)
